port-wine stain

recess in elementary: one day while racing my friends across the blacktop with my jump rope, I tripped, fell, and scratched up my face. this left streaks of red scabs across my cheeks. the following days, i started identifying with the girl with the “birthmark” across her nose and cheek because all of a sudden I too, had red marks on my face. I began playing closer to her in the sandbox and felt like I knew how she felt.

of course, scabs fall off.

Urth Cafe

Saturday morning brunch in L.A. Organic food, amazing coffee (spanish latte, mm).

Rialto Cafe

Sunday morning brunch with the girls in downtown fullerton, for kim’s birthday 🙂

Peach Cafe

Situated in quaint Old Town Monrovia, long wait for Sunday brunch, and my food was cold =/ But the place is so cute, full of elderly white people…my type of place, indeed!

guess what my dad found in our vegetable garden? oh, how large it’s been growing since it’s gone unnoticed all these summer months!

hint: it’s not a watermelon

alrighty, let’s start with the garlic fries – served with ketchup, ranch, and chipotle aioli! happy happy mMm…

we have been waiting for these crepes for so long! ever since our day at the terrible crepe restaurant in Pasadena, our sights have been set on this place.

he’s been here plenty of times, so naturally he ordered his usual, the Al Mare (jumbo shrimp, sun-dried and plum tomatoes, wild mushrooms, shallots and mozzarella cheese in a lobster basil cream sauce).

I selected The Stallion ( potatoes, scrambled eggs, mozzarella cheese, caramelized onions and basil – but minus the Italian sausage). I absolutely adored my choice in crepe. the cheese was perfection!

and this place filled up fast – it was a sunday morning at noon, and we got there just in time before the lines started forming out on the sidewalk. i could almost sense the urgency of clearing out customers, as our waiter continuously checked up on our table to see if we were done, but did so in a respectful and non-rushing manner, ha! good service, boy! i can understand why its so popular – this place has a bohemian ambiance inside, but also provides outdoor dining that is perfect for sunday brunch out in the gentle sun with the cool ocean breeze~ oh, and the crepes are to die for! crepes of all kinds…crepes, crepes, crepes, galore! definitely worth a visit =)

as recommended by our friend, we stopped by this shop for a small dessert before lunch, and shared red velvet and chocolate hi-top cupcakes. these two little ones hit the sweet tooth spot just right. aren’t they absolutely darling?
